Google Business Profile Setup for Mobile Massage in Diani

A step-by-step guide to getting your mobile spa found on Google Maps and local search — without needing a physical shopfront.

Why Google Business Profile matters

Be found when guests search 'massage near me'

Most Diani visitors book services on their phones after arriving. When they search 'massage Diani Beach' or 'spa near me', Google Business Profile decides whether you appear in the map pack, the local results and Google Maps itself. For a mobile service without a walk-in shop, this is your digital front door.

Step-by-step setup

Six steps to a complete profile

01

Create or claim your profile

Go to business.google.com and search for your business name. If it exists, claim it. If not, create a new profile and select 'Service-area business'.

02

Choose the right categories

Primary: Massage Therapist. Secondaries: Spa, Wellness Program. These categories determine which searches your profile appears in.

03

Set your service area

Add Diani Beach, Ukunda, Galu Beach and nearby areas. Do not enter a home address unless you welcome walk-ins.

04

Add services and pricing

List your treatments: Relaxing Massage, Deep Tissue, Lomi Lomi, Couples Massage, Facial Massage. Include duration and starting price in Kenyan Shillings.

05

Upload photos and videos

Add at least 10 photos: massage setup, products, team, villa setting. A short 30-second video of a treatment setup builds strong trust.

06

Enable messaging and reviews

Add your WhatsApp number, enable review requests, and respond to every review within 24 hours. Active profiles rank higher.

The full playbook

Do-it-yourself checklist with copy-ready text

Work through these twelve sections in order. Each one includes the exact values, text and links to paste into Google Business Profile — no guessing.

01

Verify your business

Verification is the gate — nothing ranks until it is complete. Google offers different methods depending on category, region and whether you are a service-area business.

  1. Sign in at business.google.com with the Google account you want to own the profile long-term (not a personal Gmail you might lose access to).
  2. Pick 'Service-area business' when prompted — not 'Storefront'.
  3. When offered video verification, choose it. Record a 30–60s clip showing the WhatsApp business number on screen, your branded oil bottles, the massage table folded in a vehicle, and the front of a villa entrance you serve.
  4. If only postcard is offered, accept it but expect 14–30 days for Kenyan delivery. If it never arrives, request another verification method from the dashboard.

Video script (read aloud while filming)

Hi Google, this is [Your Name] from Diani Villa Spa, a mobile massage service operating in Diani Beach, Kenya. Our WhatsApp business number is +254 [number]. Here is our massage table, our branded oils and our service vehicle. We provide treatments at villas and hotels across Diani, Galu, Tiwi and Ukunda.
Watch out: Do not skip verification by using a friend's storefront address. Google cross-checks against street view and will suspend the listing.
02

Primary + secondary categories

Primary category is the single strongest ranking factor on Google Business Profile. Pick the one that matches the search intent you most want to win.

Categories to set

Primary: Massage spa
Secondary: Spa
Secondary: Massage therapist
Secondary: Aromatherapy service
Secondary: Facial spa
Watch out: Do not set 'Beauty salon' as primary — it competes against nail and hair searches, not massage. Keep secondaries under 5; more dilutes signal.
03

Service area setup

As a mobile spa you serve customers at their location. Switch the profile from storefront to service-area and hide the street address.

  1. Edit profile → Location → toggle off 'I have a storefront customers can visit'.
  2. Toggle on 'I deliver goods and services to my customers'.
  3. Add each area below as a separate entry. Use named places, not radii — they rank better.

Service areas

Diani Beach
Galu Beach
Tiwi Beach
Ukunda
Msambweni
Kinondo
Kongo
Kenyaways area
Diani Beach Road
04

Business name (exact match only)

The business name field is heavily policed. It must match your real-world signage and legal name — nothing else.

Business name

Diani Villa Spa
Watch out: Never add keywords like 'Diani Villa Spa - Best Mobile Massage Diani Beach'. This is the single most common cause of suspension in Kenya. Competitors can and do report keyword-stuffed names.
05

Services list with prices

Add every treatment as its own Service entry, with duration and starting price in KES. This populates the 'Services' tab on your profile and feeds long-tail searches like 'lomi lomi diani price'.

Services to add (name · duration · short description)

Mobile Massage · 60 / 90 min · Relaxing full-body massage delivered to your villa or hotel in Diani Beach.
Couples Massage · 60 / 90 min · Side-by-side massage for two on your terrace or in your suite.
Lomi Lomi Massage · 90 min · Flowing Hawaiian-inspired massage with warm oils.
Deep Tissue Massage · 60 / 90 min · Firm pressure for tension, sports recovery and stiff shoulders.
Facial Massage · 45 / 60 min · Lifting facial massage with natural oils, suitable for sun-exposed skin.
Watch out: Use the same names you use on the website's landing pages — consistency helps Google associate the profile with your site.
06

Business description (max 750 chars)

The description appears in the 'About' tab. Use it to naturally place keywords (mobile massage, Diani Beach, villa, hotel) without stuffing.

Paste into 'From the business' field

07

Photos — minimum set

Profiles with 15+ original photos get measurably more clicks. Take them on a phone with location services on so Diani Beach geotags carry through.

  1. Logo: square, transparent or white background.
  2. Cover: a wide landscape shot of a massage setup on a villa terrace at golden hour.
  3. 3+ treatment-in-progress shots (face down, oils visible, towels neatly folded).
  4. 2+ therapist portraits in uniform, smiling, holding products.
  5. 5+ setting shots: massage table by the pool, on the beach deck, in a bedroom with flowers, with petals on the table.
  6. 1 short 15–30 second video of the setup process from arrival to ready table.
Watch out: Avoid stock images. Google's image classifier flags them and suppresses reach. Real, slightly imperfect phone photos outperform polished stock every time.
08

Hours & WhatsApp booking link

Set realistic hours and wire WhatsApp as the primary booking action so it shows on the profile as a button.

Hours

Mon – Sun: 08:00 – 20:00
Special hours: closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day (or set your own)

Appointment link (paste into 'Appointment link' field)

https://wa.me/254XXXXXXXXX?text=Hi%2C%20I%20would%20like%20to%20book%20a%20mobile%20massage%20in%20Diani.
Watch out: Replace 254XXXXXXXXX with your real WhatsApp Business number, no leading + or 00. Test the link on your own phone before saving.
09

Seed the Q&A section

Anyone can post a question on your profile — and anyone can answer. Seed the most common questions yourself first so visitors see your answer, not a stranger's guess.

Questions to post (then answer from the owner account)

Q: Do you come to my villa or hotel in Diani?
A: Yes — we are a mobile spa. We bring the table, oils and linen to your villa, hotel or apartment across Diani, Galu, Tiwi and Ukunda at no extra charge.

Q: How much notice do you need to book?
A: We can usually arrive within 2–3 hours for same-day bookings. For evenings and weekends, message us a day in advance to lock your slot.

Q: Do you offer couples massage in the same room?
A: Yes — we set up two tables side by side in your bedroom, on the terrace or by the pool. Just let us know on WhatsApp.

Q: How do I pay?
A: Cash (KES, USD or EUR), M-Pesa or bank transfer. Payment is taken after the treatment.

Q: Do your therapists speak English?
A: Yes — all therapists speak English and Swahili. Several also speak basic Italian, German or French.
10

Reviews flow

Reviews are the single biggest ranking signal after categories. Build a habit, not a one-off push.

  1. After every treatment, send the guest a short WhatsApp asking for a review with your direct Google review link (see /contact for the live link).
  2. Aim for 1–2 new reviews per week — steady beats spiky.
  3. Reply to every review within 24 hours. Use the guest's first name. Keep it 2 sentences.

WhatsApp message — review request

Asante sana for choosing Diani Villa Spa today! If you have 30 seconds, a quick Google review would mean the world to our therapists: [paste review link]. Karibu tena. 🌺

Reply templates

5★: "Thank you [name] — it was a pleasure setting up at [villa]. Karibu tena whenever you are back on the coast."
4★: "Thanks [name] for the kind words and the honest feedback. We will use it to improve. Hope to host you again."
3★ or lower: "Hi [name], thank you for telling us. I would love to understand more — please WhatsApp me directly so we can make it right."
11

Weekly Google Posts

Posts appear directly on your profile and are a confirmed ranking signal. One per week is enough.

A month of post ideas

Week 1 — Offer: "Sunset couples massage on your villa terrace — 90 min, KES [price]. Book on WhatsApp."
Week 2 — New treatment: "Now offering Lomi Lomi: flowing Hawaiian massage with warm oils. Read more →"
Week 3 — Wellness tip: "After a day in the Diani sun, a 45-min facial massage with cooling aloe rebalances tired skin."
Week 4 — Social proof: Share a recent 5-star review (with permission) plus a setup photo.
12

Common rejection & suspension causes

Save yourself a week of appeals by avoiding these from day one.

  1. Keywords in the business name — instant suspension trigger.
  2. Using a virtual office or PO box as your address.
  3. Creating a second profile for the same business in a different area — duplicates are merged or removed.
  4. Marking yourself as both storefront and service-area.
  5. Photos that look ripped from another spa's site — Google reverse-searches.
  6. Phone number that does not match your website's footer.
Watch out: If you do get suspended, do not create a new profile. Submit a reinstatement request from the dashboard with photos of your equipment, a utility bill in your name, and a screenshot of your website footer matching the profile details.
FAQ

Google Business Profile questions

Why does a mobile massage business need Google Business Profile?+

When tourists in Diani search 'massage near me' or 'spa Diani Beach' on Google Maps, a verified Business Profile puts you in the results. It shows your phone number, WhatsApp link, photos and reviews — all without a physical shopfront.

What category should I choose for mobile massage?+

Set 'Massage spa' as your primary category — it is the strongest single ranking signal on Google Business Profile. Add secondaries: Spa, Massage therapist, Aromatherapy service, Facial spa. Avoid 'Beauty salon' as primary; it competes in the wrong searches.

How long does Google Business Profile verification take in Kenya?+

Video verification is usually approved within 5 business days. Postcard verification to a Kenyan address takes 14–30 days and frequently fails — request video instead when offered. If your postcard never arrives, go back into the dashboard and choose 'Request another way'.

Can a mobile spa use Google Business Profile without a shopfront?+

Yes. Select 'service-area business' during setup, hide your street address, and list the areas you travel to (Diani Beach, Galu, Tiwi, Ukunda, Msambweni). You will still rank in Google Maps for searches inside that service area.

How do I set a service area without a shop?+

In the dashboard, edit your address and toggle 'I deliver goods and services to my customers'. Hide the street address, then add up to 20 service areas by name or postcode. Use named neighbourhoods, not radii — they perform better.

What photos should I upload?+

Minimum: 1 logo, 1 cover, 3 treatment setups, 2 therapist portraits, 5 villa/setting shots. Real photos beat stock every time. Take them on a phone with location services on so geotags carry Diani Beach coordinates.

How do I link WhatsApp booking to my profile?+

Add the WhatsApp number under Contact, and paste your wa.me link (with pre-filled booking message) into the 'Appointment link' field so it appears as the primary call-to-action on your profile.

What causes Google to suspend a Business Profile?+

The common triggers in Kenya: keyword stuffing the business name (e.g. 'Diani Villa Spa Mobile Massage Best Prices'), using a virtual office address, multiple profiles for the same business, or marking yourself as both storefront and service-area. Use the exact legal name and one profile only.
